Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)

I went into Solo with very negative feelings. I mostly liked The Last Jedi but a Han Solo origin story just sounded weird and like something we didn't need. Two directors were fired, Phil Lord and Chris Miller. News flooded social media, Alden Ehrenreich needed an acting coach... Blah, blah, blah. Yes sometimes a change in director is indicitive of a bad movie but not always. I have always gone into movies hoping to be entertained.

Star wars is a great franchise, it's cool sci fi fantasy that engages the audience. I wasn't expecting much with Solo. There are three things I wanted out of this movie, I wanted Lando to be cool, I wanted to see the origins of the Falcon and I wanted Qi'ra to be more than a throw away character. I got all three. The characters in this movie were fantastic, the plot didn't hit with me in a few points but it was a fun ride.

Lando's droid L3 was one of my favorite parts. There is a marauder which was pretty badass and there was a cool twist at the end. Everything fit in the world and matched the lore. I was happy to see that some of Han's roots from the EU novels were used. The falcon was as much a character as everyone else. We get to see a few games of Sabbac which are the key points in developing Han and Lando's relationship.

Without delving into spoilers I think Solo was a fun movie that the fans need to calm down about. Enjoy our stories and keep dreaming.

This is one I'm gonna watch a lot.
