How To Talk To Girls At Parties (2017)

I knew from the moment I saw the trailer months ago that this was going to be a weird one. Set in the early days of British punk this film follows N (Alex Sharp) and his friends through teenage rebellion. They meet a strange cult and a girl who wants to rebel.
This movie is wicked strange but boy did I love it. It captures that spirit of teenage rebellion that most of us sadly lose. My heart sang when I watched Zan (Elle Fanning) learn how to forge her own path. There is a lot to digest here and a fair amount of subtext.

This movie had some serious heart. I could relate to EVERY character, they were all so fleshed out even when they didn't need to be. Wonderfully written and beautifully executed. This movie is fun and it made me feel too.

God save the queen!

Television with Veronica

So we aren't just going to be reviewing Movies here. We also intend to review TV, Anime, Netflix, and we will have a segment for Classic movies as well. Currently on the docket to watch are the shows Chuck (Veronica's favorite.) And Dragonball (One of mine.)

Dragonball follows the adventures of a young wildboy named Goku. Goku was gifted a Dragonball by his grandfather Gohan. There are 7 Dragonballs that when brought together can grant someone one wish. Along the way Goku will make friends and battle to try and collect these Dragonballs.
Chuck follows an ordinary guy who works for Buy More (Best Buy) in the Nerd Herd (Geek Squad). His college roommate is now a CIA spy who sends Chuck a coded message containing all of the government's secrets. He is wanted by both the CIA and the NSA for their own plans.
If you have any ideas for movies, anime or other stuff you'd like us to cover leave us some comments below. Subscribe to our blog and stay tuned for more.

Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom (2018)

I remember the summer my brother dragged me kicking and screaming to see Jurassic Park six times. I remember the fear I felt every time I saw the Dilophosaurus but I also remember the wonder. I wasn't a huge fan of the first Jurassic world if I remember I rated it under 3 stars.

Lost Kingdom hits a mark that puts it in the top 3 of Jurassic movies (Not as impressive when you remember that there are only 5). Jurassic Park can never be topped, I loved The Lost World and some of those elements take center stage here in Fallen Kingdom.

My main gripe is we were shown way too much in the trailers. I knew most of what was going to happen. I was very surprised by one of the subplots that we were never shown in the trailers.

I am not a Bryce Dallas Howard fan but Chris Pratt was great, he was funny and charming. She was pretty forgettable. Isabella Sermon was a joy to watch. If you like Jurassic Park, hell if you like movies see Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom.

Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

This is the movie we have been waiting for all this time. The culmination or at least the end of the current phases. Infinity War. I was very sceptical running into this film. With so many characters how could they possibly hope to tell a compelling story. I wasn't wrong, it was jumbled but they did a hell of a job.
Each section felt like you were in a different movie and that was a good thing by the way. The relationships were compelling and you felt for them. There were winners in losers in the plot but also when it came to how these characters were written.

I'm a Thor fan, I was very disappointed by Ragnarok. In Infinity War I feel like he was redeemed. Even characters I'm not a fan of (Iron-man and Spiderman) ended up grabbing my attention. Everyone got some time to shine which was a feat in a 3 hour movie with over 20 characters.
Being a comic book fan I knew what was going to happen but I was excited to see how we got there and some serious changes were made.

Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)

I went into Solo with very negative feelings. I mostly liked The Last Jedi but a Han Solo origin story just sounded weird and like something we didn't need. Two directors were fired, Phil Lord and Chris Miller. News flooded social media, Alden Ehrenreich needed an acting coach... Blah, blah, blah. Yes sometimes a change in director is indicitive of a bad movie but not always. I have always gone into movies hoping to be entertained.

Star wars is a great franchise, it's cool sci fi fantasy that engages the audience. I wasn't expecting much with Solo. There are three things I wanted out of this movie, I wanted Lando to be cool, I wanted to see the origins of the Falcon and I wanted Qi'ra to be more than a throw away character. I got all three. The characters in this movie were fantastic, the plot didn't hit with me in a few points but it was a fun ride.

Lando's droid L3 was one of my favorite parts. There is a marauder which was pretty badass and there was a cool twist at the end. Everything fit in the world and matched the lore. I was happy to see that some of Han's roots from the EU novels were used. The falcon was as much a character as everyone else. We get to see a few games of Sabbac which are the key points in developing Han and Lando's relationship.

Without delving into spoilers I think Solo was a fun movie that the fans need to calm down about. Enjoy our stories and keep dreaming.

This is one I'm gonna watch a lot.

Incredibles 2 (2018)

14 years is a long time for a sequel of a kids movie. Some of you are going to get testy by my use of the term kids movie. Incredibles came out when I was 18 years old and being a superhero guy naturally I jumped all over it. I love kids movies and Pixar is the best at what they do.

The opening short is disturbing and touching at the same time.

The movie picks up right where we left off which is cool for a 14 year wait. There is no mystery of what happened in the lost time just BAM! And we're back in. All of the voice actors sounded great, Dash has a new voice but I could hardly tell the difference. Holly Hunter is the only one that I could really hear the passage of time with.

The movie is fast paced and fun though it definitely has some tense moments. There is a scene with a lot of flashing lights and strobe so be careful if you are prone to seizures.

I really hope they continue this series.

"Where's my supersuit!?"

Deadpool 2 (2018)

Deadpool broke in 2016. After a failed attempt at the character in Wolverine Origins. This isn't a review about Deadpool. Deadpool was a huge success but it left me nervous for a sequel. The trailers seemed pretty good but sometimes that does not a good movie make.
I was not a huge Deadpool fan growing up but the first movie clicked so I was determined to see the sequel. I had been worried early on when it was rumored that Morena Baccarin's Vanessa got snubbed for screen time.

Deadpool 2 had me laughing the whole time. I won't go into details but X-Force was great. I never thought Domino's luck based powers would ever translate on screen but man was I wrong. The plot was engaging and it was way more than a silly movie. The comedy at a few points was a little much especially at the very end.

Stay til after the credits... There's a lot there.

Ocean's 8 (2018)

I am a huge fan of the Ocean's series. Heist movies are great especially if they have a good twist. This series has had the benefit of having great casting and that remains true with this movie. All 8 in the crew, Helena Bonham Carter, Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Mindy Kaling, Rihanna, and Anne Hathaway.

The flick respects its roots and hits the ground with great pacing. In under ten minutes we are caught up with what has happened since Ocean's 13. Like most heist movies things are not quite what they seem.
Stellar performances for everyone... But Anne Hathaway steals the show. That girl is expressive! If you want a fun movie with a few turns this is a good one. Far from perfect but a fun ride through and through.
